Blue Rose

There's a rose in my garden and it reminds me of you,

it struggles too.

and all the other roses are pink and gold and red,

but it is blue.

And how it stands out from its pretty little crowd,

with its head bent down so low.

while all the other roses stare straight into the sun,

that little blue rose is meditating on the earth below.

but it doesn’t know how beautiful it is,

it doesn't know how we love it so,

and just as with you I only wish there was some way,

that I could let it know.

That little blue rose thinks that its just failed to be red,

it has no idea how perfect it is.

And that poor little rose thinks that it might as well be dead,

and nourishing the others soil below.

It thinks that it doesn't belong in this place,

it's not sure it belongs anywhere,

but that's exactly where the gardener had it placed,

just so he could admire it there.

But it doesn't know how beautiful it is,

it doesn't understand why it lives.

And Just as with you I only wish there was some way,

that I could tell it just how much it gives.
